Danny Rohl responds to James Tavernier statement ahead of Falkirk clash
Under-fire Danny Rohl is facing a Rangers rebellion from the dressing room after his public fallout with James Tavernier.
That is according to former Livingston boss Marvin Bartley - who felt that the German would be feeling the heat behind the scenes and will have "lost respect" from some players.
The skipper did not make the squad for the 2-1 defeat to Hibs this week and missed the chance to take to the pitch in his last home game.
Speaking after the game, Rohl was stated he was set to name Tavernier on the bench after an injury issue this week, and insisted he planned to give the full-back minutes on the pitch before taking the acclaim of the crowd at the end of an 11-year stint at the club.
In his version of events, Tavernier claimed that the gaffer performed a U-turn on his starting spot and he has expected to walk out of the tunnel with his family.
He conceded "emotions took over" after he had to be persuaded to appear on the pitch before kick-off for a presentation by Rangers legend John Greig.
Following his post, teammates Youssef Chermiti, Andreas Skov Olsen, Emmanuel Fernandez, Bojan Miovski, Jack Butland and Nasser Djiga were among those two like the post.
The prospect of it being "pals" liking a social media post was floated by Gordon Duncan on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard. But Bartley responded: "It's more than that.
"I think the lack of respect show to James Tavernier was extremely disappointing, not only from his point of view but also a fans point of view.
"I know Rangers have had a disappointing season but in terms of what he has given to that club - to last 11 years at that club, the goals he has scored and playing through injuries at times - for that to happen, and for the manager to not let him lead out the team...if Rangers were chasing the title, I totally get it.
"But Rangers can't move in terms of their position. It's the biggest dead rubber of a game that they are going to have for a long, long time.
"To do that in his final game and not let him lead his team out is really, really disappointing. He is going to have lost the respect of some of the players in that dressing room."
