Tom Rothman & Sony’s TriStar Prods. Makes TV & Film Executive Hires (original) (raw)
Three months after former Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman and CEO Tom Rothman announced he was teaming with Sony Pictures to launch TriStar Productions, a film and TV venture, the label has made its first executive hires. On the TV side, Lindsay Sloane of Doug Liman and David Bartis’ Hypnotic, is joining as SVP. In film, David Beaubaire from Paramount will be EVP and Nicole Brown from Good Universe will be SVP. The trio will start in November, working out of TriStar’s offices on the Sony lot. “Nothing is more important to a young company than the quality and composition of new colleagues, and I feel like we won the Triple Crown,” Rothman said. “David, Lindsay, and Nicole are all leaving great jobs to come here, and I am honored and excited to get started working together.”
At Hypnotic, Sloane developed a number of projects and served as co-executive producer on USA Network’s Covert Affairs. Before that, Sloane co-ran the drama department at Fox and was a VP at USA Network, where she developed Psych. Sloane got her start as an executive working for producer Mark Johnson.

Beaubaire most recently served as EVP Production at Paramount Pictures, a post he held since 2008. There he oversaw such films as Robert Zemeckis’ Flight, Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air, Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones,and the docu_Waiting for “Superman”._He shepherded Reitman’s Labor Day and the upcoming Men, Women, and Children, as well as Kenneth Branagh’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and the Michael Bay production Almanac. Beaubaire’s experience also includes executive positions at DreamWorks SKG, where he worked on films including Dreamgirls, and Warner Bros. Pictures. Before moving to LA, he served as Special Assistant for Cabinet Affairs for President Clinton.
Brown’s career in the independent world has focused on discovering new talent and working with first time directors like Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Drew Barrymore, Lorene Scafaria and Diablo Cody. She was most recently EVP Production at Good Universe (previously Mandate Pictures). She executive produced this summer’s hit comedy This Is The End and shepherded the upcoming Last Vegas and Neighbors .
