Post Apocalyptic Abandoned Industrial Site and Mine

This diorama is not straight out of the Mad Max franchise, but it is not too far from it either. Dilapidated and crumbling buildings with broken pipes of all size encircle the leftovers of a non clearly identifiable green material that used to be dug out of the mine. And talking about the mine, we can only see its large vertical shafts at the entrance of the labyrinth of tunnels. Cranes and drills are still dangling down the shafts.

Sand covers everything. No vegetation is visible. The place was abandoned a long time ago, but a reddish, shining slime is oozing out of a plastic divider, onto a huge pipe, and down on the excavation site. What is that liquid?
