Description

I pretty much started this one out trying to match a similar planet style as in Fleuve à l'enfer; a gas giant with some solidification. Obviously I went a totally different direction with the color. This is also another example of texture use. The background is what the original looked like with some minor modifications like the green glowing spots to add to the mystery. The texture was developed with different brushes and warped and twisted to what you see here. Then I concentrated on the little details. After I was satisfied with the “overall” texture look I then used the spherize tool along with the rest of the basic planet-building procedures. And again I concentrated on the little details. I’ve learned that it’s not enough anymore, at least to me, to make a scene just to make a scene. It’s all about the details now. So look forward to seeing more detailed work from me in the near future.

The idea behind this one: The color selection gave me a feeling of uneasiness. I relate the neon “glowing” green with this emotion almost every time so it’s easy to figure out why I chose an alien civilization as the theme. A greenish globe seemed too simple and lacking of, well, detail. So I tried different techniques to make it look like there was life on that planet like city lights and giving it organization here and there. Even the moon next to it wasn’t spared.
