What a wonderful animal portrait! It is just head and bust - the remaining parts are left to imagination. According to the position of the raven, it looks like sitting or cowering somewhere, possibly on a window-sill.

You have done lot of detailed linework concerning feathers, eyes and beak. The eyes show some expression like sadness or melancholy, whereas the beak is majestic and has a little frightening effect. I love the light background, so the bird sticks more out in the foreground. There is also lots of light spots and good shading in the work.

I have nothing really to critique upon, except a bit nitpicking. Usually a raven is "blacker". The animal seems to be very light grey in the painting and a bit darker would have stuck even more out from the background.

Above all, it is a beautiful illustration that fits Poe's work absolutely well.
