BIO
The planet Tamaran lies approximately 26 light-years from Earth in the star-system Vega (sector 2828). Tamaran is populated by a race of golden-skinned humanoids, who absorb solar energy through their skin and convert it back into energy. Tamaraneans are passionate beings driven more by emotion than reason.
Princess Koriand’r is the second of three children born to King Myand’r and Queen Luand’r of Tamaran. Growing up Koriand’r received all of the privileges, honours, and dignity of royalty as being recognised as the first princess born in two hundred years, while her older sister was being shunned and forgotten. This drove a wedge between her and her sister Komand’r who was crown princess. Komand’r was born with a rare defect that caused her body to absorb energy differently than her species. Due to this Komand’r suffered great unpopularity and was deemed unworthy to ascent the throne by the Tamaranean people who only saw Koriand’r and Ryand’r as their legitimate heirs.
At the age of twelve Koriand’r was set to marry Prince Karras of Tamaran. However she didn’t approve of this arranged marriage which would take place once she’d reached the age of sixteen.
Not long after the planet got invaded by the Citadel, Tamaranean armies led by the Royal House of King Myand’r managed to fend off the Citadelian invasion for a short period of time. However millions of Tamaraneans were killed, including King Myand’r. Their entire race would have been annihilated if it weren’t for the newly crowned Queen Komand’r who negotiated a solemn of truce which involved sacrificing her younger sister Koriand’r to the Citadelian slavery. The surviving Tamaraneans saw the sacrifice of the young princess as an act of weakness and didn’t wish to recognise Komand’r as their monarch. This caused great upset with Komand’r who, instead of the irrational nature of her kind, had to make a rational decision.
The decision made by her sister was unforgivable for Koriand’r who lived years into slavery, not knowing if she would survive the next day. Koriand’r vowed to return, not only to free her people but take revenge on those who inflicted so much harm on her. Not only did she endure years of torture and sexual abuse, she also regularly had to fight other warriors in cage fights/deadly gladiator contests for the amusement of the Citadel and other alien species. This resulted in Koriand’r becoming a fierce warrior and adopting the name Starfire. One day she began a revolution, after years of carefully planning. They liberated the other gladiators/slaves and took over. When Koriand’r took one of the escape pots there was a malfunction which resulted in her landing of Earth.

- Koriand’r loves to cook and trying different cuisines from all over earth. Sometimes she tries to cook typical dishes from Tamaran with earthly substitutes, which almost never ends well because (unfortunately) she isn’t a very good cook. Although she does gets better in time, she heavily depends on Raquelle to save her dishes.

This took so long to finish, if only you’d know how many hours I spend on this drawing.
I really used to hate Starfire, but in time she became one of my favourite heroes. I came to like her through her colours. Her colour palette is so unique with red, orange, green and purple. It was a combination I have never used. However I still don’t like certain versions of her nor am I a fan of her relationship with Dick Grayson. Sorry not sorry!
I love her when she is depicted as this girl that has gone through so much, but still stays strong. That fights for others, so no one has to go through the same thing as her. A girl that had to worry every day when she was in slavery if she would make the next. A girl that has lost hope and compassion, but finally has it again. A warrior princess hardened by the universe that is stuck on Earth but desperately wants to go home and free her people.
