Sodor is a very busy place, with so much to see and do, the engines need their drivers and firemen to be really useful. But sometimes, their drivers or firemen have to call in sick, so they can't come and work. Stanley the silver tank engine's driver was out sick, saying that he had a horrid stomach flu, so Sir Topham Hatt had to look for a relief driver for the silver tank engine, but he couldn't find one. So, Sir Tophamm Hatt called a staff meeting, which Nathan was apart of. During the meeting, The Fat Controller mentioned that Stanley still didn't have a relief driver, causing confusion and delay, but then, Nathan suggested his best buddy, Reynaldo, saying that he had learned a lot about driving a steam engine while he was helping Nathan out, when Percy's fireman was out sick. Sir Tophamm Hatt was skeptical about the proposal, but kindly agreed.

A few days of training later, Reynaldo was ready for work with Stanley.
