The Nordanner Potions by alexpeanut on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Kinda looks like a Disney movie titlecard lineup, doesn't it?
Potions now have standalone deviations! You can link up whomever you want ;D

Mini FAQ:

Q: I don't understand what these are supposed to be ._.
A: These are the potion vials for Nordanner's magic potions, which alter the looks of your horse.

Q: So are these the real Nordanner potions?
A: Yup! Only the regular ones for now, I haven't done the kaaring unlockables. Yet. But all the ones here are the real deal from the group!

Q: But they're not, like, official?
A: Actually they are! I checked in with Cloud and she approves ;D

Q: What do they all do?
A: Click the potion name if you want the thumb or fav.me link to put somewhere!

Moonglow Potion

This potion combines elvish magics with fairy dust to make your horse shine, glitter and glow with every color from pale moonlight to shiny rainbows. Although it does add some small layer of protection, the potion is mostly created for show purposes.

Fieldflower Potion

This potion is intended for show rather than protection. It causes the horse to shed flowers and plants. In some cases the horse just has small flowers in the mane and tail, while in more extreme cases the horse can be completely covered in plant growth. The horse also tends to have a flowery scent.

Toxicate Potion

This potion is both a dragon repellant and perfect protection against horse thieves. No dragon will ever try to bite a toxicated horse. Riders and handlers had better drink a drop of the potion too, since contact with a toxicated horse can cause nausea and dizziness. The magic displays as a greenish shine or glow on or around the horse.

Heat Potion

This potion gives your horse the ability to survive extreme heat and even direct flames. It's often used by fire dragon hunters because when in use the magic keeps both rider and horse safe from the dragon's flames. The magic displays as a glowing, fire-like aura.

Oceanpearl Potion

This potion gives your horse the ability to breathe in water, as well as creating a tail from any aquatic creature or mermaid. The magic has been known to make tails from anything from a betafish to a dolphin, and anything in between. The shape, type and color of tail this potion creates is random, and is only in effect when the horse is fully immersed in water.

Blood Potion

The blood potion is considered a "dark magic" potion. It invites the spirits of demons into your horse, transforming it into a bloodthirsty creature. The horse will typically grow fangs if fed fresh meat, and over time the blood will turn the horse's eyes red. The shape and size of the fangs depend on what the horse is fed, and how often.

Auralight Potion

A strong aura keeps your horse happy and healthy, and with this potion you can see that aura glistening around your horse. The potion may also display as a bit of glitter and sparkle. For unknown reasons the potion's effects typically attach themselves to white markings, adding a thin stripe of color on the edges. The color of the aura depends on the personality of the horse it's used on.

Icefinger Potion

This potion operates as ice flowing in the horse's veins, cooling down its core temperature. The horse becomes a rather cold ride as the magic does not protect the rider; warm clothes are recommended! The magic shows as rim-frost and ice particles on the horse's mane and tail and on some areas of the coat.

Nightshade Potion

This potion is pure dark magic and the effects can vary. Some horses end up with twisted facial structures, some grow bat-like wings. Often the tail will elongate into something similar to a lion's with a larger tuft. The horse's eyes will often change color to gold or orange, and the horse's temperament will tend to worsen, making them difficult to handle. In rare cases the horse will go completely insane.

Goldenwing Potion

This potion grows wings on the horse, which can vary in size depending on the dose. There is a small chance the wings grown will be too small to support proper flight. The wings are typically bird-like, with feathers, and usually match the horse's basecoat and markings.

Ram Potion

This potion causes horns to grow on the horse. Size, shape, color, placement, and number will vary depending on the dose and the horse itself.

Well this was a weird project lol. I'm sure you're all used to my obsession with Nordanner potions and from there drawing them out seemed like the obvious next step. I'm excited to do the Kaaring Unlockable potions next. Eventually.
Critique is welcome! These are still kinda a WIP until whenever nordy redoes its potion sheets, so hit me up with suggestions if you have any!
Time spent: About 30 hours over two weeks.

Everything is handdrawn, including any textures and the lettering, which might be my favorite part.
What's your favorite potion? :D
