Ave, Frater (Pendergast) by Alsdale on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

If you're looking for something different to read this summer, allow me to recommend the Agent Pendergast series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child: fast-paced crime thrillers with a supernatural/horror twist. (Bear with them through the first two books, which aren't as good, or skip them entirely).

Aloysius Pendergast is kind of like James Bond ... if Bond were an albino raised by the Addams family in the French Quarter of New Orleans, drove a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith instead of an Aston Martin, and had more money than God. He's in the top right here. His brother Diogenes (a serial killer, Moriarty to Aloysius's Holmes--and yes, his eye is supposed to look like that) is front center, and his quasi-immortal and creepy-as-hell ward, Constance Greene, is in the top left. This one was inspired by books 4-6, the Diogenes Trilogy. The background is meant to be the back of a tarot card ... although I suppose the fact that I feel the need to tell you that means I probably failed in execution. Oh well. It was fun. The medallion at the top is meant to be the amulet that Aloysius wears, though I took some liberties with the design (within the confines of the description in the books).
