Soviet KV-1(Or KB-1) by Arjay-the-Lionheart on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Silly mortal, KV-1 will not be defeated by the likes of you! Every battle only makes him stronger!

Your puny anti-tank guns cannot harm him, as he is guarded by 90 mm of frontal armor, 75 mm on his sides and 70 mm on his back!

You cannot run from KV-1! Heavy as he may be, he can still move at 22 miles per hour!

All seriousness though, the KV-1 was a star back in its day. During Barbarossa the Germans anticipated older tanks like the T-26 and Bt-7(which they did encounter in larger numbers) it's just that they didn't expect to run into Kvs and T-34s too.

At most ranges the Kv was almost immune to everything the Germans could throw at it, most of the early German tanks were under-powered and the 7.5 cm guns on early panzer 3s and 4s weren't enough to punch through the KV's armor most of the time. Many anti-tank guns couldn't penetrate it either. (Now, let me clarify that This drawing takes place AFTER Barbarossa, hence the soldiers' outfits. Though there will always be that one guy who doesn't read the caption all the way, or misunderstands the post.) Often, such as what happened at Raseiniai early in Barbarossa, the KV would just drive right over the 3.7cm kwk and the crew. There were exceptions in the German arsenal ,Air power for one and two the 8.8, the same caliber gun that would be mounted on the Tiger 1.

Kv-1s had their issues of course! Visibility for the crew was limited, the driver's glass on the vision slit often blurred easily, and the KV-1/Kv-2 was silly expensive. Through flanking and better tactics the Germans were able to handle the KV, even capturing and using some themselves.lineart is-www.instagram.com/picture_panz…

also thinking about changing the avatar, maybe to rocky the bulldog of the US Amy's 3rd infantry division.
