Conscientious Objector by arjuu-na on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

It's also my profile picture.

I've been exposed to too much vintage. Particularly from amazing artists on dA, people like :iconcallupish: :icondivinedesires: and :iconcici-chi: - check them out, they're amazing.

The MAIN inspiration, however, came from ~callupish's - and you can imagine that after I discovered the "clipping layer" and "opacity lock" functions on Photoshop, I went a little crazy with the effects. Vegeta now looks like a classy derp.

And I'm ashamed to admit that since I haven't been drawing DBZ for a good long while, I had to go back and get refs to see if I even get Vegeta's hair right. I'M SO ASHAMED. :nuu:

I thought "Conscientious Objector" sounds like a good title for this, since I was mainly thinking of Vegeta reflecting a few things about himself. The title originally came from a poem written by Edna St. Vincent Millay. Of course, in short, a conscientious objector also means "an "individual who has claimed the right to refuse to perform military service" on the grounds of freedom of thought, conscience, or religion." You probably won't see Vegeta being a conscientious objector before or any time soon, but I think at some point he probably once refused to fight. Just food for thought. You can now add that term into your personal vocabulary now. ;)

Dammit Vegeta, I miss you. :icontearplz:

EDIT: I forgot the thumb on his lower hand. No wonder it looked a little awkward. Thanks ~Ilovevegeta123 for pointing it out.
