Seems like this guy - we'll call him "Ray" for now - got a little in over his head in karate class and challenged Violet to a match, thinking that he'd be able to win this. Unfortunately for Ray, it wasn't even a contest - a yellow belt has no business trying to fight against a black belt, which Ray learned the hard way as Ms. V dominated him with ease, even leaving him with a little "souvenir" in the process. (Don't worry - he'll be tended to afterwards.)
