Stardate 42025.363 - U.S.S. Aurora Ambassador Class RefitCaptain Arcelyn Soras-Baris was relishing the moment. She had a leisurely month long assignment assessing and studying a Wolf-Rayat Star that the Aurora had been specially suited to study, it was around her favorite human holiday which was something she'd been planning on having fun with her crew on, and her two kids were here to help her through the El-Aurian Day of Remembrance for her late husband. It had been forty years since Levi's murder and it was time to officially end her period of mourning. She felt a pang of guilt thinking about everything surrounding that incident, and then of course that's when Kharella started in on her younger brother Solian, and she began wondering if this is how the entire month was going to go.

"At least they're not in my quarters..." Arcelyn muttered under her breath.

"What was that mom?" asked Solian.

"Nothing. Just happy you're both here for this." She was pretty sure she wasn't lying at the moment. "I couldn't get through this without you."

I'm using some assets I've had squirreled away to put together a one-shot comic with a Halloween theme for the contest for the Star Trek DeviantArt group is putting on. I was originally going to have this be more action packed and be a haunting, and I think I'll still do one of those, but this is going to be a more subdued and personal story than anything else. No phasers. So I'm putting some characters together and making sure the sets look good before I go full on into this rendering on one computer and modeling on another.
