In Disney history, Couldn't fit the whole title but oh well. Basically, the song Poor Unfortunate Souls (PUS from here on) featured in Disney's 1989 animated feature, The Little Mermaid, is chock full of erotic imagery and sexual innuendo. Primarily because of the two lead characters, Ariel the gorgeous red-headed mermaid, and Ursula, who I feared as a child but now think of as glamorous and "thicc" as all hell. There's a lot that goes on in this roughly seven minute stretch, so let's just go through it start to finish. In The Little Mermaid (1989) one of my favourite colour palettes that the movie uses is the bright and distinct yellow that appears throughout the film. Because of this, I think it's worth taking a deeper dive into what the colour represents when it is deployed. When a character is surrounded by or illuminated by yellow, it represents one of two things; for Ursula, it means her plans are in motion, things are going her way, or she's won. For Ariel (and for two other characters, one more than the other, that I'll reveal later) it means that things are going wrong for her, she's being baited by Ursula, or Ursula controls her (either partially or completely). You'll see what I mean as we go through this essay. The first time we get a healthy dose of yellow in the movie is when we learn that Ursula is spying on Ariel. Ariel (along with Flounder but ignore him) is surrounded by a golden glow as she is watched by Ursula and her minions. However, as the eyes of Flotsam and Jetsam combine
