Do not fear the Angel of Death by Basic-Hedgehog on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

This is my Angel of Death/Grim Reaper.

Originally his name was Jolt, but I changed his name to Raven.

Depending on what you`ve done in life, is how you`ll see him. If you were a horrible person and constant sinner, he will come to you as a demon(as seen in image) and tear your soul from your body, leaving your soul in constant torment for all eternity.

If you were generally good in life, and are granted pass to a peaceful afterlife, he will come to you when you die as an angel, although he will still be dressed the same as he is as a demon, he will be much more peaceful seeming, and will remove your soul from your body with endless care and effort, so that you will feel no pain in your afterlife.

The biblical angel of death is no fighter, but Raven is well known for fighting demons and having to chase after evil souls that escape his grasp.

He carries a hourglass by his side that is slowly pouring sand down until Judgement.

Now for a backstory. Originally, Raven was a fur born in the same era as Sir Arthur Hedgehog. Raven was the leader of a band of raiders and took over a town, eventually settling down and falling in love. The female was beautiful and wonderous in his eyes, but her father refused his courtship, and gave it to another. In a rage, Raven attacked the other suiter and challenged him to the death. Raven prevailed in skill, but the father shot him in the back with a crossbow and ended his life.

He was greeted not by the angel of death, but by another Arch Angel, who offered him to become the Angel, for no other angel wished to take the job. In return for taking such a horrid job in his afterlife, Raven was allowed to pick the lifespan of the two who murdered him, and was allowed to choose their punishment in afterlife.

Instead of choosing in rage, he allowed their full lives to go by, and chose only to give them what they earned. In the end, both had lived horrible lives of perversity and greed, and earned a placement in Hell.

But, before he cast their souls into Hell, he offered them each a chance to enter Purgatory, they would enter, only if they beat him in battle, one at a time.

In the end, the two were left in constant tourment and pain, for he disemboweled them both, and refused to heal their souls before they were cast into Hell.
