Description
Centuries ago, when Constantinople was passing through its times of splendor, gryphon was a creature of worship. In contrast to those that were characteristic to ancient Rome, I mean the strong and powerful ones, Byzantine gryphons were presented more as a symbol of the virtue of loyalty. The art of this period, filled with gold mosaics and a wealth of ornaments, gives some pleasant ideas of how they had to be dressed and decorated..
