This is a beautiful horseo named Polychroma / Poly. She is half Appaloosa, and half Arabian, and I have had BOTH of those breeds of horses growing up, so I just couldn't wait to draw this. The owner mentioned that she was still very young and would occasionally "throw a buck" so I took that as an opportunity to practice my horse bucking drawings! They're fun. My arabian horse would buck a lot too, because he was a spirited ham, and I swear, they based Spirit (the horse movie) off of my Arab's actions. I know they didn't, but he really was like that.

A big part of my horse training was actually learning how to handle bucks, because he'd do them for fun. What can I say, I have a soft spot for trolls.

My biggest challenge with this piece was making her facial expressions pop, because as this is based on a real horse, her face was extremely dark with a lot of small markings and details. I love how it came out. This was my first appaloosa drawing!
