Separated from their surface cousins for a good period of evolutionary history, wither skeletons have similar intelligence but a vastly different civilization. They live in a hive-like society, with a single breeding individual directing hundreds, sometimes thousands, of workers/drones. The 'queen' is much larger than other wither skeletons and has exagerated exoskeletal plates as well as large pincing claws that resemble extra heads, standing out from the workers with one of their thin limbs possessing a large blade. This is used in hunting and display, as well as to scrape up sediments that are molded and tempered into bricks for building the enormous fortresses they live in. They hunt most other species in the nether, but rely mostly on blazes, constructing snares filled with cultivated netherwart and scraps of meat to attract them.
