Something a bit different (but still dragons yay) - a Raya and the Last Dragon speedpaint! I just saw this movie last weekend and quite enjoyed it. Being half Vietnamese it was just very cool and meaningful to see a Disney movie taking place in a Southeast Asian-based setting, with a Vietnamese-American actress (Kelly Marie Tran) voicing the protagonist. Plus being about dragons as well, the movie was practically speaking to me Raya looks just like my older cousin and I think that is super de duper neat!

So this drawing for Raya is something I have wanted to do for a while, ever since the movie was announced. In fact I did mean for this to be released on the movie's opening day, but ho hum I got buried in schoolwork and other stuff x_x

I did make a slight design change to Sisu (her teeth) since I do wish she had more dragon-y features (she's definitely been softened down for the sake of uh, toys). But I'm not nearly as upset as some other people might be out there lol. I love how she was rigged, her animation is so smooth and the flowing movements are really great to study.
