Depending of the number of lights and objects in the scene the noise will be increased.
I use to render with 1500 - 2000 samples and it reduces the noise almost completely.
However, your materials are also related to the noise amount: translucency, glossy, SSS, hair particles are the most "noisy" materials.
I see you didn't use SSS or translucent stuffs, but the amount of glossy all over the body might be causing all this trouble.
I guess a re-render with 1000 samples will take most of the noise off.
A quick tip: in the Render Panel there's a submenu called "Performance" which contains the tiles size Blender will be using to render the scene.a value of 16 x 16 (16x, 16y) will help Blender to improve noise removal and render time, cuz it has to analyze and clean less space.

I'm here if you have more questions.
