MW4 Argus, quick sketch by BishopSteiner on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

So, while Inktober may be over, I still am trying to incorporate some quick sketches in, on days where I'm just not clicking on the paying jobs, or don't have time to sit down and devote the 4-6 hrs I need to do a "real" piece.

In this case I was thinking about how much I loved the new mechs in MW4, the more industrial style they had. Just really clicked with me. Osiris is still probably my favorite post 3050 Light Mech, and love the Chimera, Hellspawn, Uziel, Argus, Thanatos, etc.

The Argus was usually my backbone mech for my lancemates at the midpoint of the game, while I was usually running either an Uziel or later an Awesome as my ride. But I'd often run this version for myself. Sadly the stats don't really translate well to TT.

In MW4 I actually preferred the RAC2 to the RAC5, the RoF, everything just IMO made them more effective. Never used lasers smaller than Large Lasers, because in the OG game, not the later MekTek version, the Mediums of any flavor were hot trash. And because SSRM6s were actually really dang effective, of course I had to have one for the missile slots.

In TT, I'd be more inclined to try to lean into the RAC5s, and probably drop the LL completely, and even then I'd be running awful tight on ammo loadout with only 2 tons per RAC.

But by the same token? I find building mechs in CBT for maximum effectiveness to be dull, and TBH in TT I never use RAC2s, so this seems like as good an excuse to force myself to use them as any. A 44 pt potential Alpha is still decent, if not earthshattering.
