Thumbnail 30: A Tale of Sea Dragons"We were set to finish up on the delivery for the manuscript translations when we ended up running into a flock of the sea-faring dragons of the southern coasts of the Nereus archipelago and Cambion. They took a leisurely flight down the coastline, taking the time to glide a few meters off of the sea to look at the ships and catch porpoise. I am used to coastal dragons being various shades of grey and teal and no bigger than ponies, but these were impressively coloured with blacks and yellows, and equally as large as Ametrine whilst the smallest being of equal size to Camber - much to his aggravation, which lead to much spitting and parroting of various curses he has unfortunately picked up from myself.
I asked the fishermen of the coves where they nest about these dragons, and from my pigeon-translation their name roughly is sea cutter; like the ship but also because of the large scythe-like crest on their heads which cuts through the water when they dip their heads in to scoop up fish and propoise. I also learnt that the fishermen decorate the sails of their vessels large and small with the colours of these dragons, partly as per tradition and partly as a deterrent to stop the dragons from taking their catch, however one fisher told me a third reasoning for these colours; they just look nice." - The account of courier Wrenn Adesso.Heyo, more dragons again! This time with colours based on common dolphins which have a nice yellow side, as well as some golden oriole, and a big scimitar head crest.
