“Come on Lisa, you know it’s funny.”
Her steely expression cracked and the smile Samson loves lit Lisa’s face like the sun. “Do you always have to order a silly drink that looks like my dress?”
“Lisa, think about it this way, you are powerful. You can make me drink everything from a frilly drink to a heavy stout just from the clothes you put on.”
Lisa walked over and Samson lowered his face. She climbed up onto his fist, leaned over, and kissed his cheek. “Thank you for making me laugh, Sam.”
“Your pretty face deserves at least that after...”
“Ssssh...You are not your Dad, Sam. Plus I volunteered for the experiment. Blame it on me being an overeager postdoc. You tried to warn me it was not ready, you tried to take my place, and since then you have cared for me better than I did for myself before the accident. You have never taken advantage of the fact I am just the size of a toy. I love you, Samson - never forget that. But sappy stuff aside, you better scoop me out some of that foam!”
