"why is my moon so big..."

Yay big digital composition! I learned so much from it too. I don't think this piece is particularly impressive but I'm really not very caught up on it because I feel like it really helped me figure out where I need improvement and how I can better my process and stuff. This piece felt good to have clear my mind, in a way. I really focused on those compositional leading lines and all that kinda stuff. I completely lost it in the value department though so I think I know where to be focusing myself next. I think the most important thing this piece taught me though is that textures are not greater than foundations. I thought a bit ago that what I was missing was the details, the nitty gritty. I was so totally completely wrong. The bits where I through a whole buncha hues together and just kind of implied my details turned out so much better than what I had originally started out trying to do. Textures and technique are cool and all but I think I'm really going to have to start mastering those fundamental concepts before I can really move into those kinds of things. The're meant to complement a nice comp, but they can't very well complement a bad one (and ho boy this one was a bad one haha)
Anyways, very happy with how this one got me thinking. I already have another idea for a big ole digital piece again that I think I'll be sketching out soon as well as a few other projects that are in the works. Hopefully uni won't keep me too caught up.
