Happy September! You know what that means – NaNoWriMo is only two months away! :noes: Today we’re going to look at plot structure, since it’s never too early to start planning. You may be familiar with inciting incidents and denouement and all those terms. Problem is, how do you apply them? “Rising action” is a big ‘ol string of plot occupying all the space between the intro and climax. That’s a lot to coordinate, and that’s why it’s easy for novels to develop saggy middle syndrome, when the action stops rising and starts flatlining – or worse, starts falling. I’ve hodge-podge
