P-40E 112 Sqn RAF 3 by Claveworks on DeviantArt (original) (raw)
The Curtiss Kittyhawk or P-40E served with a wide number of Air Forces during WW2.
It was developed from the earlier Tomahawk, but never achieved the status of other allied fighters of the era.
The P-40E was used by the USAAC, and was known as the Kittyhawk 1A by other forces including the RAF, RAAF, RCAF, RNZAF, and Soviet Union
It was armed with 6 x 12.7mm machine guns and could also carry bombs on underwing hardpoints.
This example is a Kittyhawk IA of 112 Squadron RAF 1942.
