Description

I wanted to make another attempt at doing lines in Sketchbook Pro (some of you who watch my BlogTV streams may remember that my first attempt was a miserable failure). Decided Yoko from Gurren Lagann would be a good test. Despite its flaws, it still looks a hell of a lot better than my first try. Took forever. It's not just drawing in a program that is still new to me, it's getting away from vector lines. Yes, most of the digital inking/linework I've put up on DA was done with vector lines in Manga Studio 3 and recently Manga Studio 5. So, lots of erasing and redrawing here, rather than using pinch and smoothing tools to adjust the line. I probably won't be doing digital linework in Sketchbook unless I start with some VERY tight pencils. But, I did enjoy this, so I guess I'll have to come up with some really tight pencils, haha. I'm not one of those guys who takes really vague or incomplete pencils and then does some kind of inking masterpiece over it. The tighter the pencils, the faster and better the digital inking, for me.

Yoko and Gurren Lagann created by Gainax, as you well know.
