Going in conjunction with my recent reviews and ranking of the Scooby-Doo cartoons is my friend Josh and his ranking of the shows......

Hey Again Here Is My Ranking Of The “Scooby Doo” Shows Enjoy.
As I’ve Said Before I’ll Say It Again. “Scooby Doo” Is A Cultural Phenomenon That Has Stood The Test Of Time. And Through Its 50 Plus Year History It’s Been Taking In Many Directions. Some Good And Some Not So Good And Others… Well Pretty Bad. (You Probably Know By Now.) I’ve Joined Cyber In Reviewing The Different Iterations When I Could And I Will Join Him On Ranking Them. Now I Won’t Be Ranking All Of Them But I Will Rank The Ones I Remember For The Most Part. Like Those That I’m More Familiar With. And Keep In Mind With Some Of Them These Are Just My Opinion On Them So Please Don’t Take It Personally If I Don’t Put Your Favorite Show Higher. That Said This Is My Ranking Of The “Scooby Doo” Shows. I Think This First Entry At The Top Won’t Come As A Surprise That I Consider It The Best.

1. “Scooby Doo Where Are You?”
What Can I Say? This Is Where It All Began 54 Years Ago. It’s Rightly Been Regarded As Both One Of The Best Cartoon Shows Ever Made As Well As One Of The Best TV Shows Of All Time. From Its Memorable Theme Song To The Introduction To Our Lovable Mystery Solvers And Most Of All The Mascot Him Self Scooby Dooby Doo To Unforgettable Monsters And Ghosts Like The Spooky Space Kook To The Ghost Clown To Captain Cutler To The Creeper And More. Not To Mention Plenty Of Side Splitting Hi Jinks For Years To Come. This Has Been My Go To For Years Since I Was A Kid And It Continues To Be Such. Because… “If We Can Count On You Scooby Doo I Know We’ll Catch That Villain.”

2. “Scooby Doo And Guess Who?”
Made To Be A Legacy Series “Guess Who?” Is A Spiritual Successor To Both “Where Are You?” For The Classic Style Making A Come Back And “The New Scooby Doo Movies” With The Famous Guests Aspects. This Is What I Consider One Of The Better More Recent Shows In The Library Of Scooby Shows And The Last Good One Before “You Know What.” The Modern Animation With The Classic Art Style Looks Amazing And Gives Us An Idea Of What The Classic Show Would Be Like With More Fluent Animation And It Nicely Maintains That Classic Scooby Humor In The Right Places Plus It Helps By Having Some Fun Guests Like Weird Al Penn And Teller Sia Kenan Thompson And More And Equally Cool Villains Like Professor Madds Markson Esther Moonkiller The Wedding Witch And Pazzo The Ghost Clown. It Might Be Nostalgia Heavy To Some Sure But Hey. It’s At Least Made With Love To The Classic Shows Before As Opposed To One Such Show Dripping With Contempt For The Source Material And Its Audience. But Let’s Not Get Ahead Of Our Selves.

3. “Be Cool Scooby Doo,”
I Regret That I Didn’t Give This Show More Of A Chance. At The Time I Rode The Waves Of People Dunking On It For How It Handled The Characters And The “Family Guy” Art Style. Boy Was I Wrong To Listen To That Lot. After Finally Giving It A Shot I’m Kicking My Self In The Ass For Not Doing It Sooner. Not Only Is The Show Better Than I Gave It Credit For But It’s Also Both Funny And Having Decently Spooky Moments And Villains When It Calls For It. Add The Bold Characterizations Of Characters Like Daphne And What You Have Is A Show More Worthy Of Watching Than Most People Would Have You Believe.

4. “The Scooby Doo Show.”
This Was Perhaps The First Series To Take Advantage Of The Glob Trotting Aspect That Other Shows Would Follow Suit On And I’d Say It’s One Of The Best. “The Scooby Doo Show” Is One That I Have Personal Nostalgia For Thanks To The Episodes That Introduced Me To The Series (Namely “The Headless Horseman Of Halloween” And “Vampire Bats And Scaredy Cats.”) And By Extension To Scooby Dum And The Catchy As Hell Theme Song And Others That I Some What Recently Discovered In My Teen Years Like “The Creepy Case Of Old Iron Face” “The Diabolical Disc Demon” And “The Harum Scarum Sanitarium.” So “Come Get Involved Until The Mystery Is Solved. Hang Around For Scooby Doo.”

5. “What’s New Scooby Doo?”
Another Of What I Regard Is One Of The Better Recent Outings That I Have Nostalgia For. This Is One I Have Mild Nostalgia For Mostly For It Introducing Me To Grey Griffin As Daphne To Which She Later Stood As The Definitive Portrayal To This Day And My First Introduction To The Hex Girls Prior To Me Seeing “The Witch’s Ghost.” For The Most Part I Remember Enjoying It With Such Episodes That Stood Out Having A Sentient Mini Golf Animatronic Clown (Plus A Surprise Role Reversal For Shaggy And Velma.) To A Vampire Terrorizing The Gang Seemingly After They Solved A Caper With A Fake Vampire To An Arctic Gill Man Like Creature To The San Franpsycho To A Halloween Adventure Reminiscent Of “New Scooby Doo Movies” With The Band Kiss As The Guests. All In All A Decent Reboot To The Classic Show.

6. “Scooby Doo And Scrappy Doo.”
I Don’t Remember A Whole Lot From This Series Aside From The Blue Scarab Episode And The Episode Where Shaggy And Scooby Think Daphne Turned Into A Vampire And One Where They’re Chased By A Wax Ghoul. (Not The Wax Phantom.) But On The Whole I Do Know This Was Where (For Better Or For Worse.) We Got To Know Scrappy Doo. And I Am Among Those People Who Find Scrappy Mildly Annoying But Above All I Don’t Hate Him. Like Him Or Hate Him Folks He’s Half The Reason The Franchise Got Jump Started Again. Not To Mention He’s Responsible For The Earliest Movies Pre “Zombie Island” Years. So We Owe Him A Debt Of Thanks For Keeping This Franchise Afloat.

7. “Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated.”
Now I Don’t Necessarily Dislike This Iteration Of The Series. At Least Not As Much As I Used To After That “Other Show” We’ll Discuss. And To Its Credit A Slightly Darker Take On “Scooby Doo” Is Mildly Intriguing. I Do Remember At Least Liking The Decidedly Spookier (Well More Spookier Than Usual.) Tone Especially With The Monsters And Little Callbacks To Classic Scooby Media. But Here’s The Thing. I Think It’s A Touch Bit Overrated. (Every One Gasps.) Hear Me Out. Like I Said I Do Think The Good Stuff That Works Works. But There Are Things That Hinder It And Mostly Keep Me From Fully Loving It. Namely Some Of The Characterizations Of The Familiar Mystery Gang And The Questionable Choice Of Injecting Teen Romance/Drama Into The Mix. This Is What Kills The Chances Of Me Completely Enjoying The Show Mostly Because It’s Clunky At Best In The Case Of Freddy And Daphne’s Relationship And Forced And Rather Unpleasant At Worst In The Case Of Shaggy And Velma’s With How The Latter Could Get Needlessly Bitchy And Even Guilt The Former Over Spending Time With Scooby. I’m All For The Characters Having Some Romantic Bond With Each Other But This Just Wasn’t Handled Well. But Little Did I Know There Was A Lot Worse Things To Come Than This. But Again Let’s Not Get Ahead Of Our Selves.

8. “The New Scooby Doo Movies.”
Basically “Scooby Doo And Guess Who?” Before It Was Cool. This Was The First To Employ The Famous Guests Gimmick Which Has Since Been Spoofed Both Officially And Unofficially. And While I Do Remember Enjoying The Guests Like Batman And Robin Laurel And Hardy Dick Van Dyke Davy Jones The Addams Family And The Three Stooges (Who For Some Reason Used Their Lesser Third Stooge Curly Joe Instead Of Good Old Fashioned Curly.) This Is A Lot More Forgettable Than Its Modern Successor In “Guess Who?” The Mysteries Aren’t Half As Memorable And It Can Get Gag Heavy Especially With The Hour Long Format As Opposed To The More Preferred 30 Minute Format. Not To Mention The Lazy Reskins Of Past Villains Like Those Ghost Pirates In The Harlem Globetrotters Episode Where They’re Just Redbeard And Company Painted White. But Even That’s Preferable To The Last Entry On This List Which Is…

9. “Velma.”
You Knew This Was Going To Be On Here Folks. I Had The Least Hope For This Show And I Was Still Let Down In The End. I Have Not Heard A Good Thing About This Show When It Dropped And It Unfortunately Met My Expectations For How Bad It Could Get In Spades Yet. From The Moment The Teaser And Its Trailer Dropped I Could Tell This Was Bad But I Didn’t Think It Could Be That Bad. For Starters It Doesn’t Feel Like A “Scooby Doo” Show. And Not Just Because Scooby Isn’t In It. But For The Fact These Characters Are The Mystery Gang In Name Only. Every Character Is Vile Despicable And All Around Unlikable To The Point Where I Hoped The Villain Won. But None Could Be Worse Than The Main Lead Her Self Velma. Jinkies! What The Hell Were They Thinking? Were They Thinking Even? This Is Not Velma But An Imposter In A Velma Shaped Mask Or More Accurately Mindy Kaling’s Self Insert OC Just So Nearly All The Mystery Gang Could Simp Over Her. She Is An Irredeemable Horrid Piece Of Filth I Hope Never To See Again. (Until The Unfortunate Second Season Presents Itself.) She Treats People Like Dirt And She Pushes Away The Few People Who Actually Are Nice To Her. And Her Relationship With Daphne Is Borderline Abusive From The Moment We First Meet These People. To Put It Mildly She’s A Sociopath. And On Top Of That The Show Is Way Too Reliant On Crass Dirty Humor On The Subject Sex Nudity And Body Shaming Plus Some Legitimately Racist Lines Here And There And An Over Reliance On Meta Humor That Even While They Make Fun Of It They Still Do It Any Way. And The Overarching Mystery Itself Takes A Back Seat To This Crap So That Can’t Even Get That Right. Plus It Just Feels Like This Show Is Dripping With Contempt For Its Source Material And Scooby Fan That Wants To Get In On It. It Begs The Question “Who Is This For?” And More Importantly Why Did They Make This? Don’t Waste Your Time With This Show. The Only Mystery It Provides Is Why This Exists In The First Place.
What Do You You Think? :) (Smile)
