Beastars is more interesting than I thought. I guess you can say it's like Zootopia, but darker. A lot of people like to say that Beastars copied Zootopia with it's whole race allegory, but it's not fair to this series. Race allegories with animals is nothing new.

Yea. Zootopia focused more specifically on the animals who were trying to bring down predators by making it seem like they would kill herbivores with their instincts. Beastars decides to take this into a new level by revealing the actual threats that predators could bring (Ex: the lion mafia) along with highlighting the uncontrollable urges they have. Additionally, Beastars society actually forces predators to change physically (Ex: lion mayor having to remove his fangs) in order to restrain them to the same level as herbivore. Finally (and most notably), Beastars reveals how flawed society could be in general with the black market. Like actual black markets, the existence of the meat markets is usually neglected by the government in order to keep everything in balance. Sorry if this was a little long to read.
