Morph and Chameleon by DadaHyena on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

The new series X-Men '97 wrapped up, and even though I'm not going to post any spoilers I will say that I enjoyed it immensely.

Of all the returning characters the one who was the most heavily redefined was Morph; to be fair, Morph was never given as memorable of a personality as the other X-Men (outside of that nasally snicker), so it's just as well they went with a whole new angle. I'm sure a lot of people on-line will complain about Morph now being queer (not least of which because of their obvious crush on Wolverine) but that doesn't bother me in the least. I'm actually more bugged at Morph being able to turn into any super-powered character (c'mawn, just transform into Galactus and eat all the enemies!) than I am with anything gender-and/or-orientation-related.

...but the real big question I have is: why does Morph look like Spider-Man's nemesis Chameleon? I know this look has been used in the comics, but is there any connection between the two shapeshifters? I guess they'll have to explain in season 2!
