REMADE.
I'm a feminist, and I'm not afraid to say so. There's nothing wrong with feminism or being a feminist. Feminism is about gender equality. If you insist you're an "egalitarian" or a "masculinist" or a "men's rights activist" because you "believe in gender equality unlike feminism" then you are an ignorant and/or oppressive asshole.
Crying about "feminazis" and "I'm not like THOSE BITCHES" is derailment and assassination of character purely for the purposes of undermining the cause for gender equality and ignoring the issues surrounding it or brought forth in a debate. It's yet another purposeful strike from society and the media in order to dismantle social justice causes, by destroying the labels and groups that they rally around, associating them with "crazy man-hating butch bitch-lesbians" and thus ultimately break down said causes by taking away their own meanings while simultaneously excluding said causes from the discussion of the meaning of their causes.
Was that too complicated? Let me explain then.
The majority of Muslims view Islamic terrorists the same way the majority of Christians view people like Westboro and Timothy McVeigh and other such people and groups.
Most people would agree that "not all Christians are like that" and that even "most Christians aren't like that", but most people do not agree that "not all Muslims are like that" and believe that "most Muslims are, in fact, like that".
What's the difference between the two? Christianity is the privileged group, dominated by another privileged group (white people) whereas Islam is not only the minority outcast it is also dominated by minority outcasts (Middle Eastern people).
In an effort to discredit the Islam religion and feed racist fervor, they proclaim terrorists as the representatives of the group and do not allow Muslims in the media and on the streets in this discussion of whether this is a legitimate and accurate representation or not.
Feminism and other social justice activism groups are treated like this so that the issues they present are discredited and dismissed. Instead of responding with neutrality, when someone mentions they're feminist, the first reaction of society and the media is to dismiss their opinion because they simply must be a radical psychopath. (I've literally seen people do a 180 in tone and openness the moment that the person they're debating with or simply talking to mentions they are a feminist.) This tactic is deployed to keep oppression in place and to keep the status quo thriving. It's a tactic used to keep the glass cieling present in society for certain groups. It's to keep us from rising, from helping ourselves, from others helping us, from bettering our communities and society as a whole.
That being said mmmm there's nothing wrong with being a lesbian or being butch, calling women "crazy" and "radical psychopaths" for wanting rights and/or not prioritizing men is ableism that stretches back centuries (it was only a few decades ago women were locked up and given lobotomies for disobedience!). Doing this encourages rifts between communities who need to unite; this demonizes lesbians, masculine women, mentally ill and neurodivergent women, etc when they are communities who need our support and our backing.
