The smaller Edaphosaurus by damouraptor on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

I really have no idea what Lupeosaurus translates as, does anyone know? Anyways, this is Lupeosaurus, an edaphosaurid pelycosaur, one of small dimensions. It is left in the shadow of the bigger and certainly more popular edaphosaurid Edaphosaurus, I'm guessing 'cause little is known that can be diagnosed as Lupeosaurus. Regardless, it is similar to its larger relative in the respect that it has a sail on its back, one that closer resembled the sail of Dimetrodon over Edaphosaurus. The pretty obscure genus was presumably herbivorous, as we don't have any skull remains, to my knowledge that it, so we can do some phylogenetic bracketing and assume that it is. I'd personally like to own one as pet, I might even make my own spec evo pelycosaur that was gradually domesticated through selective breeding. Anywho, expect more sail backed critters soon.
