Mer-May 28 Ningen Strider by DarkmasterN on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

This strange and hideous creature is known as a Ningen, more specifically a Ningen Strider as there are several kinds of creatures known as Ningen, and this kind is also known by other names depending on where you see it, such as Arctic humanoid, White walker, or Pale Striders. A kind of cryptid creature that lives within the arctic. Surviving in caverns and caves on arctic glaciers and dive into the waters, swimming with their powerful legs through the ocean to hunt for prey.

Strangely enormous, Ningen Striders are generally 15-30 feet tall. They are called Striders due to the way they walk, and because the other known form of Ningen do not have as well developed legs. They swiftly and silently move through the arctic and are much lighter than they would appear despite their thick blubbery flesh. They can leap great bounds and land lightly on surfaces, scaling glaciers similarly to mountain goats. When they make vocalizations, they are similar to the sounds a whale makes, however much lower and with a human cadence that has terrified those who heard them, especially due to the almost laughing or excited sound they make when they see prey.

Mostly Nocturnal Hunters, the Ningen hide very well with their pure white skin against the arctic snow as they silently assault prey in the dark. They have been seen consuming giant albino penguins in the past, and it's believed they may be somehow related to the Shoggoth, or perhaps another experiment of the Elder Things, and it may be true that they are distant relatives to humans, but their origin is truly unknown. All that is known is that they are wholly unnatural and vaguely humanoid with minor intellect, but enough to know how to be cruel as they will sometimes maim a creature in a group and leave it to call for help while they wait to ambush any one who shows.
