This is one of the rare occasions that I agree that B&W suits perfectly the motif of the photo. I believe you wanted to transmit, not only the beauty of a cat's cub, but also the parallel to a human emotion, that most of us believe there is on these animals also, of sadness, or melancholy. The capture is very well attained and the DoF is almost perfect.
Maybe I would have closed the diaphragm half a stop so that it would bring to focus the whole head of the kitty. If you notice carefully, there are parts of its face that are not in focus (especially the lower part of its nose, where the whiskers are) and gives the impression that the whole photo is not "sharp", as the first thing that we notice when we look at the cat are the eyes and the nose (snout).
As for the lighting, just love it. A semi-backlight that fits the photo and the sentiment of the motif perfectly. I love the way you shifted the cat a bit to the left as its body is curved making a an arc with the center in the right. This gives a sense of tension and unstable equilibrium which gives dynamics to the photo.
