Minerva Goddess of Wisdom, Justice and Victory 7 by Dragon-Gates on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Minerva is the Roman, Greek (Athena), Iranian (Mithra) goddess of wisdom, justice, law, victory, and the sponsor of arts, trade, and strategy.

She is not a patron of violence such as god of war Mars, but of strategic war and unlike Mars, she was associated with wisdom and is therefore seen as a civilizing influence.

From the second century BC onward, the Romans equated her with the Greek goddess Athena

Minerva is one of the three Roman deities in the Capitoline Triad, along with Jupiter and Juno

She was the virgin goddess of music, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving, and the crafts.

In ancient Iran, the equivalent of Minerva was the god Mithra, also known as Mithras in the Roman context. Mithra was a Zoroastrian deity associated with wisdom, law, contracts, knowledge, properties, and judgment. He was often depicted as a warrior god, a protector, patron, and leader, similar to Minerva's association with strategic war.
