Description

This story shows some of the new recruits to the armed forces and their basic training including assault courses within their home bases. They are initially preparing to go overseas to Northern Europe for multi-national cold-weather exercises where the force with be up against similar military armed forces from differing ‘friendly’ countries. The exercises are taken very seriously by all the countries but, of course their weapons are not equipped with any live ammunition. Nevertheless, the ‘battlefield’ is not for the feint hearted and one hundred percent effort is expected. The strongest and toughest regiments send their troops out shirtless to harden them up for the times when the opposition is for real. Only the finest and best troops will prevail and be victorious. During the days and weeks of the exercises, some men will be captured by the opposing forces which is considered to be something humiliating and to be avoided as the reputation of their unit is at stake.
