This to me, epitomises what a great, moody portrait is all about. The model's face is perfectly framed by her hair and by covering one eye leaving the other staring directly at the viewer the impact is doubled. The rather hard direct lighting from one side adds to the overall ambiance and again helps concentrate the viewer on the focal point of the image - her eye. Such is her expression, it could convey a multitude of emotions...is she angry, dismissive, puzzled, annoyed. A very difficult expression to categorise and I think that's what gives the whole image a certain enigma. For me this image works beautifully on a number of levels, from the purely technical to the exquisite artistry. A wonderful portrait.
