Um so. What is this thing? WELL. I will tell you. In the utterly round-about way it occurred.

Mostly, I picked up the game Dark Souls! (Prepare to Die edition for the PC) And I am a huge sucker for dark, moody fantasy. I knew I wanted to paint a grungy knight in plate armor. Then while searching though fan art, I came across *DavidRapozaArt's cool sketches of some of the knights - complete with link to video process! Anywho, I don't typically follow processes and tutorials closely - I look at them and decide what I like and what works for me - then move on.... but I actually decided to give Dave's process a whirl. I learned a lot of things.... mostly that I am no David Rapoza. But all in all, for a speed paint, I think it looks pretty cool! Not really very realistic... more painterly... but whatever.

As for the actual design.... eheheh. If you thought it kinda looks like a turian, you get a cookie. A long time ago I doodled some turian-styled plate armor in my sketchbook (shaped for a human female. Because.... you know, the body shape). This departed from it quite a bit, so I'm not really sure what's going on anymore. Oh well, practice. Moving on....

And so ends the longest description for a spontaneous speed-painting ever!
