Mickey and Oswald - The Innate Power of the Brush by FaithFirefly on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

OKAY SO...JUST HEAR ME OUT, CAUSE I'VE BEEN PLAYING EPIC MICKEY. X3

I've found that pretty much nearly any sibling relationship that elicits feels works pretty flawlessly into a Frozen AU. And seeing as how Manda and I have been working on the Frozen/Animaniacs AU, this one was BOUND to come up. (Thanks as well to jackfreak1994 for already touching on it. XD) But I was actually really surprised to find out just how WELL the Epic Mickey storyline could play into this AU. Not to mention I've heard people relate Mickey & Oswald's relationship to Anna & Elsa's, and the fact that their dad was supposed to be modeled after a young Walt Disney.

So in this case, Oswald - the older of the two siblings - was NOT born with ice powers. Rather, he was born with the "power of the brush" within his touch. He can summon and control paint, a power that brings life and color and a great source of fun for him and his little brother, Mickey.

That is, until one of their playdates where little Mickey takes a leap and Oswald fears he might get hurt. The little rabbit shoots a hand out to build something to catch his brother, but realizes too late that what was summoned by his hand is not blue…but green.

Thinner.

It strikes little Mickey in the head, knocking him out. He's alive, but Oswald learns very quickly the grim truth of the power he possesses. To a toon, paint means life…and thinner means death. And it was a miracle that Mickey was hit in the head rather than the heart. While toons have the ability to still survive without their heart inside them, damaging the heart is a different game entirely. And it shakes young Oswald to the core that he possesses a curse that threatens to kill those he loves if he can't control his emotions. Whenever he's sad or angry or scared, everything he touches loses its vibrance, its color, its life.

The friendship he once had with his brother can never be the same, and the two of them are separated from each other for years and years...

So yeah. No ice or snow here. XD Rather a setting similar to what you see in Epic Mickey where instead of eternal winter, their kingdom pretty much becomes Wasteland. I might make a few more drawings off of this idea, we'll have to see. I have a few more ideas about how certain scenes would play out with paint and thinner as the "powers" rather than ice, and TBH I want to include Minnie as an R-63 Kristoff and I need to find a Hans... Why are female baddies lacking in Disney's classic character lineup? :noes:
