Zarihal Flag - Caveworld by FiloBeche on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

The symbol of Zarihal is the all-seeing eye.

According to ancient legends, Night Incarnate, the goddess of Zarihal, possesses the ability to see not only into the oxen, but also into people's dreams and desires, and to extend this vision to the confines of the cave (some rumour that Night Incarnate can also see beyond the Eyes of Heaven and see the surface, but the sacred texts are not clear on this)

The all-seeing Eye is simultaneously part of the Goddess and a being with its own distinct characteristics that has a will of its own (albeit subordinate to that of the deity) and appears in Zarihal in different forms: from small pins attached to children's robes, to huge bas-reliefs showing it equipped with wings (of a raven, or bat).

In the banner he represents the goddess' judging gaze and the security of always being protected by her benevolent sight.

The oldest banner, apparently 2500 years old, is enshrined in the central temple of Nha Thalor, where it is accompanied by the oldest and most prestigious relics of the empire.
