Narrow Gauge engines: Llynda the Penrhyn engine by Flippydaflippinbear on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

For every cranky old grandpa, there’s a joyful lovely Grandma, Llynda Hunslet is your girl who is always willing to help others, however she has the tendency to be a little gullible but isn't afraid to act when words don't work against anybody

Llynda (pronnounced as Clynda in the welsh alphabet) Hunslet is a Penrhyn Mainline 2-4-0(formerly 0-4-0) Tender engine, similar to her sister “Linda” and her brother “Blanche” of the Ffestiniog railway, including the latter's closed tender

Backstory: Llynda would start her career in 1893 being the 4th engine on the Penrhyn quarry railway with her twin sister Linda, due to them being basically the same class and sharing somewhat similar personalities, as a joke they gave eachother these names, Linda and Llynda

Her first arrival to sodor would be on the Peel Godred Aluminium works, which was a somewhat harsh environment for her, she kept her calm self as she didn't like to be angry and immediately befriended the other engines there. Stuart and Falcon especially liked her as she reminded them of old Grandpuff, the aluminum trucks were a different story, they loved causing the engines pain and misery, Falcon especially, Until one day Llynda had enough and reprimanded them severely, even going as far as to bump them and nearly cause one to fall into the machinery. The trucks were surprised as they never saw Llynda this mad

Llynda as much as she regretted it knew that the trucks deserved it, but she continued her life as normal. when Stuart and Falcon were sold to the Skarloey Railway Llynda stayed behind with maybe one or two mid sodor engines. she was thought to be unfit for sale as her poor maintenance would basically make her a scam.

In the end she was turned into a stationary boiler at the Peel Godred power plant for better use, she befriended a Kerr Stuart Tattoo class named “Barford”, though Barford was confused on why the power generating shed was talking.

however in the 1990s, the peel Godred powerplant decided that they wanted to use more environment friendly methods such as renewable energy and hydroelectric technology, that meant Llynda would see no use anymore, eventually she was sold for auction for a while and Barford managed to spread the Word to the electric engines, who would then spread the word to the rest of the northwestern fleet, all the way to the Skarloey railway which needed tender engines for deliveries to the Wharf line

Sir Handel and Peter Sam asked Mr Percival if they could buy Llynda, that of which he couldn’t say no to

Eventually Llynda was brought to the Skarloey in 1996 as a stationary boiler and restored into her former glory, painted in the Sapphire livery worn by the Wellsworth and Suddery engines, she became a part of the narrow gauge railway.

Personality:

A kind grandma overall, she is concerned for others and dares to help them no matter what. However she might come off as a little gullible and does not like it when her kindness is taken advantage of. She gets along with the other engines, even Duncan… except for Duke for some reason, they're like an old married couple
