The sense of panic as they feel their feet disappearing into the very unexpectedly soft ground beneath them feels so real and urgent. They're really shocked and confused and naturally are reaching out to each other for support, both physically as they're struggling to cope with the alarming sensation of falling while still standing up, as well as emotionally, as they're each seriously scared of what's happening but also very concerned for one another, being the faithful friends that they are.

Perhaps they're disagreeing on whether or not they should try to stand perfectly still or try to force their way out before they sink even deeper. And which side should they try to make a break towards? There's not much time to decide, and any half-measures might make things worse for both of them. The only thing that's clear is that they both know EXACTLY how much danger they might have just stumbled into, and they know the consequences of not dealing with it before it's too late. In the midst of their panic, will they be able to work together to calmly escape? Or is their adrenaline running so high that they're suddenly about to make things MUCH worse for one another?

Or have they already stepped into their doom and haven't quite discovered just how helpless they already are?

Great, GREAT picture here. Toby and Terry are no strangers to this predicament, but maybe they're already recognizing that there's something extra dangerous about this sudden encounter with quicksand, one which may prove far less forgiving than any of the close calls they've managed to escape in the past...
