Description

The magnificent walls of Philae Temple stretch upward, every available surface covered in hieroglyphs. The ancient Egyptian name for the island Philae Temple resided on was Philak, or boundary. As their southern frontier, the Pharaohs of Egypt kept a strong garrison there to protect against the Nubian nation to the south. Philae Temple, Egypt.
