This is part of a Fantasy-based AU that I've been working on for a while. It's...kiiiind of a dumb idea, mind you, but I love it honestly, and talking to about her AU sparked some inspiration for me to draw for it again. :3

The story for the AU/fan fic (I'm calling it "The Raven and the Spark") is...complicated I suppose? Basically it goes like this:

In the land of Trinity, everyone is separated into two factions: Humans and Unknowns. Unknowns are what all magic-based creatures and people are called, and are seen as dangerous entities that most Humans want to destroy. Isabella, the Princess of Trinity and heir to the throne, is sent to live with her nanny (Poofenplotz) away from her home after her father is assassinated and her mother falls deathly ill, and is turned into a lowly servant as a result of her nanny's cruelty. Knowing the danger her mother is in, Isabella tries and fails to escape from her nanny's clutches for one reason or another - it's as if the tower she's been forced to live in has a mind of its own, somehow keeping her there with some kind of...magic?

Meanwhile, Phineas is an Unknown, a Magi to be precise, who has highly destructive magic that causes others of his kind to fear him. He gets along better with Human children, his mechanical ingenuity and knowledge with alchemy bringing intrigue to those around him, all while keeping his magic prowess a secret. One day, he happens upon the very tower that Isabella is trapped in, and finds that he holds the key in helping her escape. The two form an unlikely alliance (unlikely in Isabella's opinion, anyway), and form a plan to stop whatever Poofenplotz is doing, and save her mother and kingdom.

Unbeknownst to them, however, they have much bigger fish to fry - a beast terrorizing Unknowns and Humans alike, a corrupt politician bent on turning Trinity into his own image, and a living curse threatening to destroy everything. Escaping a tower is one thing - the rest is a challenge neither Human nor Unknown could ever see coming.
