It had been quite some time since Karen had been warped. Ever since Silk had appeared and Chaos had taken over the combined powers of both Silk and Nebula, the powers of the Infinity Gauntlet had been focused mostly on the newcomers. Therefore, Karen had slipped past the notice of the villains. And why would Karen not want to go unnoticed? Unlike most of the other present heroes, Karen did not have any superhuman powers. What could she contribute to this fight?
Standing behind Karen was a teal-skinned girl. It took Karen quite a few moments for Karen to realize that someone was behind her, as she was focusing on keeping out of sight of the rest of the combatants. When Karen by chance turned her head behind her, she almost jumped out of her skin. The teal-skinned girl just wore an unnerving smile on her face, which caused a chill to radiate through Karen’s spine.
“You’re surely not looking for me. Aren’t you looking for them?” Karen asked Chaos as calmly as she could.
Chaos tilted her head for a moment, as if her feral mind was considering what she had just heard from Karen. After a moment of thought, Chaos merely nodded and skipped away.
Once the little teal menace had departed, Karen closed her eyes and gave out a great sigh of relief. She had really dodged a bullet there! Who knows what the little girl would have warped Karen into if she had the chance? Although she was a little concerned that she had just sent Chaos after the other heroes, she knew that they could handle Chaos better than she could.
“Another accursed human!” Karen heard a voice say.
When Karen opened her eyes, she immediately realized that she was not sitting in the same spot as she had been a few seconds ago. Did Chaos teleport her while she had her eyes closed? She was now surrounded by the villains who had been trapped in this dreamscape. Karen easily identified the who had just spoken seconds ago from the woman’s annoyed grimace. She was a purple-skinned gargoyle with dark red hair.
“Um...I obviously don’t fit in here, so I’m going to just skedaddle out of her,” Karen sheepishly muttered while she tried to crawl away the villains. However, after Demona had taken to the skies, she landed in front of Karen, blocking her way out.
Then a familiar green light shown around Karen, something that she had seen affect the other heroes. Then, she felt a fiery pain throughout her body, as if someone was rearranging her body, like a clump of play-doh. In fact, it was almost as if a kid took two different colors of putty, smashed them together, and reformed the new mess of colors into a new shape.
“Do you think it is Demona or the girl in there?” Karina Destine heard one of the villains whisper to one of their compatriots. However, since Karina was recovering from whatever Chaos had done to her, she did not have the focus to see who was speaking and she was not familiar enough with their voices to distinguish the villains from one another.
“What are you talking about?” Karina asked, not realizing the final effects of the transformation. She was shocked when she had seen what she had become. She now had a long, lizard-like tail, although it had human skin instead of reptilian scales, and batlike wings. And her feet were monstrous. And what did Chaos do to her clothes? And her hair!
Because of this, the villains then immediately realized that Karen’s personality had become dominate instead of Demona’s. At first, the villains readied themselves for battle as they surrounded Karina Destine. However, Amora soon stepped forward, as if she had nothing to fear from Karina.
“I’ll handle this,” Amora quickly responded by summoning a miniature, artificial star overhead. As the star gave off its radiant shine, Karina’s body began to cover in stone, the curse of being a gargoyle. Once this petrification was complete, Karina was reduced to a glorified statue.
“So, who needs a decoration for their castle?” Amora asked the other villains, who immediately burst out into an awkward laughter.
“No, seriously. Who wants her?” Amora finally cut off the laughter.
