COVID GO AWAY by GreysonFurrington on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Although, clearly, these guys aren't home.

I remove my mask if I am in the company of friends whom I am confident have not been traveling and are in good health. But even then, I remain 6 feet away from them, I do not speak directly in their direction, I do not touch them, and I prefer to "socialize" outdoors. Most unexpected contact will happen in public environments like a grocery store, where I definitely am wearing a mask in any event. Downplaying the benefits of masks is a little sad. I agree, they are not needed at all times, but in public, they are a wise precaution. And the etiquette during this pandemic is to always defer to the comfort level of the person taking the most precaution. If a friend is masked because that is how they are comfortable, it is not proper to call them down as foolish, rather, be a decent and respectful person and put your own mask on. It's the accepted courtesy in polite society.
