Yamai Duelists - Yuzuru and Kaguya by Hawk00Refferencer on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

The next batch from the Date A Live pool, as suggested by FatPigRidingABoar (seriously, I should've come up with a name that cool!) is the twin thundering beauties of Kaguya and Yuzuru. And this one was a doozie, I had to do a LOT of outside-the-box thinking to get their respective hands, elbows, and other bodyparts in the right pose. This kind of posing with two characters kinda does not work for me since it usually messes up the composition and distracts from the details of both having duel disks in different perspectives. Alas, the two technically count as one character, I mean you can't mention one without the other, so here we are.

Unlike Miku, who got introduced in the same season I believe, I genuinely like this duo. Not only do they wield lightning powers, which is typically my favorite element to base powers around, but they have an interesting background and a unique setting. They're also competitive of one another, so being duelists sorta works for them. Heck, someone better write that story where they're both introduced to Duel Monsters by Shido and decide to settle a dispute with this game for a change. Seriously, do it, nobody is going to get mad for calling dibs or anything. For me, it's hard to pick favorites, I'd say I prefer Kaguya for her style and personality, and Yuzuru for her looks and quirks (that speech pattern of hers really stands out).

As for the deck... I'm just following instructions here, the man in charge wanted them to use either Harpies or Lyriluscs. I didn't question that, but I am second-guessing my final decision for future reference. For one thing, I know that a Thunder deck would've been more suitable, something like either Batterymen or Watts, but you already know how scarce those are in the game. There's also the newly meta-defining Spright deck, but I don't think we're ready to talk about Sprights yet. So anyway, I went with Lyrilusc because, frankly, I haven't used that for anyone yet, and there's really no real difference theme-wise from the alternative. At least they're cute, and they like flocking together. Even though, in terms of the mentioned story where they play casually against one another, they'd probably do it with a set of random boosters. Artwork wise, I am happy how it turned out, and I'm hoping more artwork becomes available in the future to explore new decks for them.
