Mega Evolution, simultaneously my favorite and also least-favorite mechanic in the entire Pokemon franchise, and by "the entire Pokemon franchise," I mean gens 1-7, gens 8 and 9 don't exist, you might think you played them, but really you were all hallucinating while looking at blank Switch screens like Candle Cove. I always loved Mega Evolution because it's a fantastic way to explore character design in a franchise famous for, if nothing else, its designs, and also for its similarity to the Ultimate Aliens from Ben 10.

At the same time I also believe it was an extremely flawed idea for a mechanic on account of the fact that you obviously can't give a Mega to EVERY Pokemon, but every Pokemon is someone's favorite, so unless you only have the most common and agreeable opinions on Pokemon, you were probably disappointed at least a little to have a choice that seemed so obvious just get overlooked. What pissed me off the most about that aspect was that the necessity to only prioritize the popular mons resulted in two of the six generations taking the lion's share of all megas. Like, how is it fair for gen 1 to get thirteen, gen 3 to get nineteen, but gens 5 and 6, 6 being the gen that introduced the mechanic in the first place, only get one each!? I can kinda understand 6 being low priority cuz all those mons were new, watching them gain access to an upgraded super form doesn't hit the same as a mon that already has history, but gen 5 wasn't THAT new! Surely at least a handful of its mons had already become iconic enough to justify the attention! Surely it deserved to have at least as many as gen 2 got!

THAT, I needed to fix, especially when Charizard and Mewtwo each got two Megas for basically no reason other than being just that much better-liked than the rest, while Meloetta's base form already has two forms, so the gimmick of having the same Mega Stone kick off two different evolutions depending on which form the base mon is in was right there! So that's what I did, building off the music theme by basing both forms off more contemporary music genres, rock and roll/heavy metal and rap/hiphop

Meloetta's gonna rock and roll all night and wear your granddad's clothes every day
