Brawn does what he does best. In fact he is getting revenge for Megs and Screamer killing (actually shooting him in the shoulder to be precise; 'tis the biggest debate since Obama's american heritage) in the movie. Kinda a 'what if' if you like.

Maybe it has something to do with BT Ravage altering timelines, whilst Wheeljack builds himself a muscle body, only for Skids to time jump and cock it all up before Optimus Primal time jumps to the past to create it all into an alternate present so really it was like it never happened but did because that's how alternitys were born.

It makes perfect sense. It honestly does.
