(Fire) Major God - Sekhmet [Egyptian] by Hiroshi25 on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Sekhmet is a strong and ferocious warrior and it is both a surprise and no surprise that she was granted prowess over the Element of Fire.

There are many Gods representing War in Egyptian mythology, as well as many Gods representing Protection in Egyptian mythology. What makes Sekhmet stands out is her ferocity as well as rage. These combined makes her extremely volatile and destructive, just like Fire. It has been said that whenever Sekhmet fights, a whirlwind of flames envelope her and her enemies, and wherever she treads, she leaves a trail of ash and smoke. It is precisely because of this that she was granted the realm of the Element of Fire when the Council of Gods were formed.

Armed with dual sickle like blades, Sekhmet charges into battle and this is where it becomes apparently how Hephaestus is different from his other two compatriots. Her battle prowess definitely matches the other Gods of War and on top of it, she has the aura of Fire to not only protect her but add on to her destructive power. Unlike Hephaestus, Sekhmet doesn't sit still. In fact, she relishes battling and blood, though she isn't as crazed as Surtr. Because of this, warriors all turn to Sekhmet and pray for strength in battle and to seek the protection of Fire. She grants her blessings not only to her devout, but also to the Succubi and Cockatrices. Her most important blessing however, is her ability to heal and purge poison even in the midst of battle, and that is why she is able to command the Cockatrice easily.
